For this tutorial you will need

Paint Shop Pro
Animation Shop

The Following Colour Chart.
Left click and when it opens right click then save as, then open in PSP.
This colour chart is just a guide, feel free to use whatever colours you want.

Step 1: - Outline

We will be be making the Horse shown above. The outline below have been resized a lot so you can see it clearly.
To make this easier I have numbered all pixels over 1.

Horse Count

Select the brush tool with the following settings.
Size = 1
Hardness, Opacity and Density = 100
Zoom in to about 800% - 1000%
Set your foreground to either colour 1 or 2 on the outline colour chart depending on where you want to start your outline.
Change the colours as you go. The yellow is Colour 1 (#E5CF9D) - the blue is Colour 2 (#6B859E) - the pink is Colour 3 (#9E6C75).

Open a new image 200 x 200 and fill with white so you can see what you are working on and draw your outline.
Use black for the eye outline and white for the eye inner.

Step 2 - Blue Fills

When the outline is complete select your magic wand with the following settings.

We are going to do all the blue areas first.
With your Magic Wand on the settings shown above click inside the left mane area - the part above the face.
Set your Foreground to Colour 6 (#B5C2D0) on your colour chart and flood fill this selection.
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 5
Shadow colour = #6B859E
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 3%
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the large mane area.
Fill this selection with Colour 6 (#B5C2D0).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 8
Shadow colour = #6B859E
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 3%
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the tail.
Fill this selection with Colour 6 (#B5C2D0).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 7
Shadow colour = #6B859E
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 3%
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the hoof on the very left.
Fill this selection with Colour 6 (#B5C2D0).
Keep selected.

Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 2
Shadow colour = #6B859E
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 3%
Deselect.
Repeat this cutout for the other 3 hooves.

Step 3 - Yellow Fills

With your Magic Wand on the settings shown above click inside the nose area.
Set your Foreground to Colour 5 (#FDF9EB) on your colour chart and flood fill this selection.
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 3
Shadow colour = #E5CF9D
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 3%
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the face area.
Fill this selection with Colour 5 (#FDF9EB).
Keep selected.

Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 4
Shadow colour = #E5CF9D
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the neck area.
Fill this selection with Colour 5 (#FDF9EB).
Keep selected.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the shoulder area.
Fill this selection with Colour 5 (#FDF9EB).

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the rear area.
Fill this selection with Colour 5 (#FDF9EB).
Keep selected.

Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 8
Shadow colour = #E5CF9D
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the back leg.
Fill this selection with Colour 5 (#FDF9EB).

Step 4 - Pink Fills

With your Magic Wand on the settings shown above click inside the ALL the spaces in the nose band.
Set your Foreground to Colour 7 (#D0B6BB) on your colour chart and flood fill this selection.
Keep selected.

Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 3
Shadow colour = #9E6C75
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the head band.
Fill this selection with Colour 7 (#D0B6BB).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical= 0
Horizontal= 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 4
Shadow colour = #9E6C75
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Select your magic wand with the same settings and click inside the shoulder/neck band.
Fill this selection with Colour 7 (#D0B6BB).
Keep selected.

Keep selected.

Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Finally hide the white background and go to Edit - Copy and paste the horse as a new layer onto your carousel.
Duplicate the horse layer and move both horses into position. See my tag for a guide.
