REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN

You can drag this arrow down the page with you to keep your place in the tut.
Script provided by Dynamic Drive.

Step 1:

Open a new 600 x 500 transparent image and flood fill with white.
Open the image of choice and press Shift D to make a duplicate. Close the original.
Working on the duplicate image, right click the background layer in the layer palette and choose Promote Background Layer.
Activate your Selection Tool set to Ellipse - Feather: 0 and draw out a circle that selects the area of your image you want to use.
If you don't get it right the first time, just Deselect and retry.
Once you are happy with your selection, go to Edit - Copy.
Activate the new white canvas and go to Edit - Paste As New Layer.
DO NOT close the image as we will need it later.

Duplicate this Circle layer and move the duplicate beneath your original layer.
Go to Image - Resize - 108% - Bicubic Selected - All layers UNchecked.
Then go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - set at 10.

Duplicate the original layer again and move below the other image layers.
Go to Image - Resize - 126% - Bicubic Selected - All layers UNchecked.
Then go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - set at 10.
Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Weave with the following settings:
Gap size: 2 - Width: 5 - Opacity: 3 - Fill Gaps ticked - Weave Colour: White - Gap Colour: #F3CEA4.

Duplicate the original layer for a third and final time and move below the other image layers.
Go to Image - Resize - 138% - Bicubic Selected - All layers UNchecked.
Then go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - set at 10.

Step 2:

Activate the image we took the selection from earlier.
Go to Image - Resize and set the height to 480 pixels. NOTE: The width will change to keep the proportions of the image. Smart size selected - All layers checked.
Go to Layers - Load/Save Mask - Load Mask from Disk and apply the MontiCircleMask or a mask of your choice with the following settings and click on load.
Mask Settings

Go to Layers - Merge Group then Edit - Copy.
DO NOT close this masked image as we will need it later.

Go back to your canvas and activate the top layer.
Go to Edit - Paste as New Layer and move the masked layer over to one side - see my tag for guide.
Duplicate the merged group layer and go to Image - Mirror.
Making sure you are still on the top of the two background masked image layers go to Layers - Merge - Merge Down.
Lower the opacity of this layer to: 70 and move this layer down to just above your white background.

Step 3:

Click on your top layer to activate it.
Activate your Preset Shapes set on Ellipse with the following settings.
Line style:solid - Line Width: 3 - Foreground: Metallic Silver Gradient - Background: closed off.
Draw out a circle around the outside edge of the blurred circle - see my tag for guide.
Go to Objects - Align - Center in Canvas and then convert this layer to a raster layer.
Add a Drop Shadow of choice. I used
Vertical = 2
Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 50
Blur = 5
Colour = black

Change the Foreground to #F3CEA4 and with a line width of 2, draw out a circle around the main image - see my tag for guide. Go to Objects - Align - Center in Canvas and then convert this layer to a raster layer.
Apply the same drop shadow we used above.

Step 4:

Now to do the smaller four circles around the main image.
Use your Preset Shapes with the following settings.
Shape: Ellipse - Line Width: 2 - Foreground: Metallic Silver Gradient - Background: closed off.
Draw out a small circle - see my tag for guide - and move to the desired position.
Duplicate this layer and go to Image - Mirror.
Duplicate this layer and go to Image - Flip.
Duplicate this layer and go to Image - Mirror.

To add the parts of the image into the smaller circles activate one of your smaller circle layers.
With your Magic Wand - Feather and Tolerance: 0 - click inside the circle.
Go to Selections - Modify - Expand by 2.
Activate the masked image we used earlier and go to Edit - Undo and keep undoing until you get it back to a full UNresized image again then go to Edit - Copy.
Click back on your working canvas to activate it and go to Edit - Paste - As A New Layer.
Move to the desired position within the selected circle so the part you want showing is in the selections.
When you are happy with the positioning go to Selections - Invert and press delete on the keyboard.
Move this layer below the circle layer in the layer paletteand go to Selections - Select None.
Repeat for the other 3 smaller circles.
Add the same drop shadow to each of the smaller circles as we used on the other circles.
Nearly finished.

Step 5:

Activate the top layer so we can add the smaller bevelled circles in between the bigger filled circles.
Use your Preset Shapes with the following settings.
Shape: Ellipse - Line Width: 2 - Foreground: #F3CEA4 - Background: Metallic Silver Gradient - Set to Radial to give the Star Burst type effect.
Draw out your small circle at the top and go to Objects - Align - Horizontal In Canvas and convert to raster layer.
Go to Effects - Plugins - Eye Candy 4000 - Bevel Boss with the following settings:
Bevel Width: 5.76 - Bevel Height Scale: 50 - Smoothness: 75 - Bevel Place: Inside Marquee: checked - Darken Deep Areas: 0 - Shade Interior: checked.
Lighting Direction: 139 - Inclination: 70 - Highlight Brightness: 100 - Highlight Size: 25 - Highlight Colour: White - Shadow Colour: Black.
Add the same Drop Shadow we used on the other circles.
Duplicate this bevelled circle 3 times and move into position - see my tag for guide.

To finish off I added some small stars.
Using your Preset Shape select the Star2 shape with the following settings.
Line Style: Solid - Line Width: 0 - Background Colour: Metallic Silver Gradient on the radial setting.
Add same drop shadow as before and duplicate this layer 3 times and move the stars into the desired positions.

If you want to resize your tag do it now before adding the copyright.

Finally add the all important copyright information and of course your name!
I curved my copyright information around the inner of the circle.
To do this activate your Preset Shapes set on Ellipse with a Line Width of 1 - Foreground Colour: White - Background Colour: Closed off.
Draw a circle slightly smaller than the main image circle. DO NOT convert to raster.
Select your desired font, then hover the cursor over the white circle outline until you see a 'A' at an angle.
Type in your copyright details.
When finished click on the little + symbol on the layer name in the layer palette then click on the eye of where it says Ellipse. This will get rid of the outline circle, leaving just your text.

I hope you've enjoyed making the tag!
